Need For speed Carbon 13-09-06 14:37

Electronic Arts confirmed the release date of Need for Speed Carbon being on 2nd November 2006 for all platforms. Interestingly also for Wii and Playstation 3, the Wii console will be released in mid-November and Sony's Playstation 3 will even come not before 2007 in Europe.
Apart from that we can expect this date can be taken seriously, since the game will be released for most platforms already on 31 October in the USA

If you own a 5.1 Surround Sound System you may have missed the 5.1 sound in NFS Most Wanted, but you will be delighted to hear this:

We've really spent a lot of time this year trying to get all the authentic cars in the game recorded, as well as even more aggressive sounding cars for a change in exhaust tone when you upgrade the performance of your engine1. Not only do we have a ton of new cars recorded, but we also have added a new feature which is a seperate engine recording for every car in the game. What this means is that when you change your camera view, you should hear a distinct difference in exhaust and engine sound. This is also noticable on your opponent's and crew member's cars as they drive near you. You'll hear engine sound as they approach behind, which will change to exhaust sound as they pass by you. The effect is much better if you have a 5.1 surround setup, in which case you will hear your player car engine in the front and the exhaust in the rear surround speakers, or the AI racers coming up from behind in the rear speakers and transitioning to the front (or vice versa). Also, depending in wether your car is a front or mid/rear engine car, you will get an appropriate mix of engine/exhaust when you're driving in 3rd person camera.

Im really excited about the car audio this year and Im looking forward to hearing some feedback from all of you once the game is released in November (or after you play the demo).

NFS Audio Dept - car engines
Vancouver, BC, Canada

1) To be more specific, each class and tier of car has a different number of engine upgrades available. The first engine upgrade you make, you will not hear a change in audio, it will be a physics only upgrade (ie. the car will perform better, but the sound will be the same). The second engine upgrade you make, your exhaust note will sound different/more powerful. The only exception to this rule are cars with only one upgrade available, in which case you will get a new exhaust sound on the first upgrade (hehe, except for the CarerraGT, we couldnt find a better sounding car to record that would work as an upgrade )

PC, Xbox, Xbox360 and PS3 (and hopefully Wii) will support Dolby Digital 5.1, PS2 and Gamecube will support Pro-Logic II surround.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted 04-02-05 14:58

As posted from SPOnG.com:

World Exclusive: Need for Speed: Most Wanted ? EA?s Leading Franchise Blown Apart Only Here !

SPOnG can today exclusively blow the lid on Electronic Arts? next Need for Speed game, detailing the company?s thinking on the leading franchise update for the first time.

The series will ditch the Underground moniker, with the new game carrying the title Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The information, leaked to us last week, states that the multi-platform offering will ship across the world in late 2005.

Most Wanted will be available for Xbox 2, Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, PC, PSP and ?Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS.? A pleasant added value news snippet details a ??simultaneous ship, with the Xbox2 platform", which indicates a late 2005 release for Xbox2 too. Though whether the machine will go under the ?Xbox2? name is unclear. But the launch period, as dated by the world?s leading third-party publisher, can now be pencilled in.

The picture we get is of a game that is not really too different from the Underground duo, with one key difference: Most Wanted takes the series back to its roots, with police chases making up the body of the gameplay. (Yipppeeee !!!! <----- Viper's personal Observation )

The game will feature:
  • "Outwit cops" missions
  • Visual customisation to manage your ?heat meter?
  • Epic Hollywood-style police pursuits with up to 15 cop cars on screen
  • Skill-based cop evasion and upgradable evasion technology
  • Interactive environments conducive to eluding cops

There is also a rap-sheet system, in which a player?s notoriety is upped by performing more dangerous manoeuvres in the view of following police.

Eight game modes are promised:
  • Multiple point races
  • Toll booth races
  • Speed trap photos
  • Outrun
  • Outrun best route
  • Circuit
  • Sprint
  • Knockout ? Cost to state, pursuit milestones and headlines
  • Milestones

Four ?distinct regions? will be offered, along with real time weather and an evolving environment.

*There will be no racing during the night-time*

all the action taking place between sun up and sunset.

Online play will be included with what is described as a ?similar feature set to NFSU2? though this time, world-wide play will be included with no conflict between the North American and European versions.

Around 100 motors will be on offer. ?Asian import (tuners), exotics, American muscle and Euro imports,? as detailed by EA.

Oh, one more thing! Burnout 4 is slated for Xbox 2 launch.

We?ll post screens when they become available.

Ahhhh...first the NFS 5 cars being released and now this...some of the best news I've ever heard
